Camellia – Early Pearly

An extremely popular and versatile plant, it can be pruned into a small tree, shrub, espaliered or used as a hedge. They have beautiful flowers and are an excellent addition to any garden. They need acidic soils so should only be added into the ground when you have prepared the soil for them with lots of organic matter. They should be kept moist during summer with regular applications of mulch to keep the roots cool.

‘Early Pearly’ is an early season variety with double flowers that are mostly white apart from some pink blushing on the outer petals. The flowers are produced in autumn and winter. The shrub can grow up to 3m tall and 2m wide and has glossy, green leaves. It should be planted in a part shade position and should be protected from the heat and afternoon sun of summer.
