Plumeria rubra–‘Purple Rain’
A gorgeous frangipani from the Leelawadee range, it is also called Ruang Sukdee. It can grow into an attractive small tree with grey branches and lovely green leaves. The flowers are purple to pink depending on climatic conditions with an orange centre.
It is a lovely specimen tree in a variety of gardens from tropical themed gardens to low maintenance gardens. It is also useful for cut flowers and floral arrangements.
It should be planted in full sun to part shade in well drained soils. It should be planted in a position protected from frost. It should be watered regularly for the first two summers but will be dry tolerant after that.
