Pittosporum angustifolium –‘Gumbi Gumbi’
The Gumbi Gumbi (Western Pittosporum, Berrigan, Bitter Bush, Cattle Bush, Cheesewood, Native Willow, Native Apricot) is traditionally used as a bush medicine treatment for coughs, colds, eczema, and lactation induction. Drought hardy and native to areas spanning from southern Western Australia to coastal Queensland.
A tea can be made from the leaves of the plant by steeping them in hot water. Leaves can be used fresh or dried.
Drought and frost resistant, grows in heavy clay to sand, however for best results, plant into a loamy soil in a sunny location and water well through summer.
Slow growing to 6m tall.
